Calandria Ortiz-Resende is a policy professional and social justice advocate with extensive experience in domestic violence prevention, policy analysis, and systems change. She most recently served as the Policy Director at the New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence (NJCEDV), where she led statewide policy initiatives to advance survivor-centered legislation and systemic reforms.
Calandria holds a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University–New Brunswick, with a specialization in Management and Policy and an Area of Emphasis on Social Policy in partnership with the Center on Violence Against Women and Children. She also earned an Equitable Community Change Certificate from Cornell University and completed the prestigious Eagleton Fellowship Program in Politics and Government.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, she holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). Raised in a socially conscious household, Calandria developed an early awareness of the systemic barriers affecting women and children, which led to her deep commitment to social equity and justice.
