FSHC Statement in Response to Jersey City Overlay\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Last night, the Jersey City Council passed an Affordable Housing Overlay ordinance. In\u00a0response to its passage, Adam Gordon, Executive Director of Fair Share Housing Center\u00a0<\/span>released the following statement:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to Mayor Fulop, Council President Watterman, and the Jersey City\u00a0Council on the final passage of the Affordable Housing Overlay ordinance. This\u00a0<\/span>innovative addition to Jersey City\u2019s Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance creates more\u00a0<\/span>opportunities for smaller mixed-income developments throughout the City.\u00a0<\/span>Importantly, it makes sure that even smaller developments include affordable\u00a0<\/span>housing for families by requiring at least one three-bedroom affordable home in\u00a0<\/span>developments of five homes or more. We look forward to continuing our work with\u00a0<\/span>Jersey City to create more affordable homes\u2014helping to ensure that Jersey City\u00a0<\/span>remains one of the most racially and economically diverse cities in the country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
